Why Your Brand Should be on Instagram Live

Alright, now that you know the ins and outs of using Instagram Live, let’s chat about the why– why your brand should utilize Instagram Live. If you’re like me, then you may find it challenging to crunch your thoughts down to the 2,000 character limit on Instagram posts or the 10-second limit on Instagram Stories. By experimenting with Instagram Live, you’ll have up to one-hour to share your thoughts, ideas and advice for your Insta community. This can offer you a new, fun and personable opportunity to connect with your followers on a one-to-one basis in ways that have never been possible on Instagram before.

Instagram Live is a new + super exciting feature for an already engaging social media platform. If you're wondering if Instagram Live is right for your brand, click through to read how you can utilize this new tool + engage with your audience!

Although you would be talking to your community as a whole, by interacting with your followers and engaging with them in real-time you are offering an exclusive, authentic experience where your community can be an active participant with you and your brand. Instagram Live has the power to take your message to a higher level where your community is consciously (and selectively) choosing to have a deeper interest in Y O U. Live viewers choose to watch what they want to watch, if your community is picking you to listen to, that means they qualify at a higher level of intent. Essentially, Instagram Live gives your voice the power to be heard!

Instagram Live Tips

I have a feeling that the one major thing that might hold you back from taking the leap to live broadcasting is that you’re worried no one will show up. Am I right? If so, keep these extra #socialstudiotips in mind!

Give the Heads Up!

Let your Instagram community know ahead of time that you will be going live on Instagram. Let them know, what you’ll be talking about, why they should take the time out of their day to attend and what day/time you’ll be live. Share a post on Instagram one day ahead to give them the heads up.

Don't Just Rely on Instagram

On that note, don’t just rely on Instagram to get the word out. Have an email list? Use it! Share about it on your other platforms. Again here, let people know what to expect and when.

Give Reminders

Even if someone knows they wanted to attend yesterday, they may forget on the actual day that it’s time to show up. Here’s where you can get creative with your Instagram Stories to remind people “hey, I’m going live on Instagram in an hour– join me!” Remember, Instagram will only notify some of your followers, take advantage of other Instagram features like Stories and traditional posts to drive live attendance.

Take Questions Ahead of Time

One way to encourage those “I’lll be there” peeps to really show up is to take their questions ahead of time. Let them know you plan to answer live and send them a personal invite over Instagram Direct Ephemeral.

Let Your Community Bring a Guest

Don’t just rely on your own community. Share about your plans to go live in an Instagram post and ask your community to tag a friend to join the party– the more the merrier!

It’s the attention to these extra little details that will make you stand out and ensure that your first Instagram Live video is a success!
