Here at Social Studio Shop we are so committed to cultivating relationships out from behind a computer screen and helping our Socialites to Inspire. Connect. Grow. That’s why we’ve decided to launch a new monthly feature called “Socialite of the Month” where we will showcase one of our past Social Studio Shop clients and catch up with them in their social media journey to see all the amazing things they have done! We find this community of ours so inspiring and we can’t wait to share more about the incredible boss babes we’ve had the honor of working with through our workshops, consulting, online courses, and more!
We’re so excited to introduce our very first Socialite of the Month, Lauryn Lasko! Keep reading to learn all about this blogger babe + see how she’s using social media to take the fashion blogging world by storm!
1. Hi there! Tell us a bit about yourself and what it is that you do!
HEYYYYY! I am Lauryn Hock from the blog Lauryncakes. I also run all the social media for that blog (@lauryncakes). I was born in Nevada, "grew up" in middle school and high school in California, and attended college and got married in Utah. My life has been split in thirds and each place has different and special memories! I currently teach resource reading (special education for students with a reading disability or low reading comprehension) at a pretty tough high school in the valley. Besides my two jobs (blogging and babysitting-- I mean teaching), my time is spent going on bike rides, watching animal documentaries with my husband, reading teen literature so I know what to recommend, thrift shopping, tagging everyone I know in dog memes I find on the internet, and concocting plans to make impromptu trips to a beach town. I blog mainly about fashion with a touch of beauty and lifestyle, but the three seem to go hand-in-hand. I sometimes describe my style as 'urban sophisticate' and sometimes 'boho edge'.
2. How do you think your best friends would describe you?
They would describe me as brash, bold, and bossy! I can't comment on if any of those are true ;)
3. So you’re a past Social Studio Shop Socialite. Can you tell our audience a little bit about what products or services you’ve participated in with us and what your experience was with those?
Of course, I loved my experience with the Social Studio Shop! I went to the workshop locally in Salt Lake City. It was easy and convenient that Social Studio Shop traveled nearby so that I could attend and go home at night-- it didn't interrupt my schedule in the least bit. The workshop was made for creatives and influencers alike and I was able to learn from the best on how to manage my media as well as network with other business minded locals.
4. Before working with Social Studio Shop, what were your biggest struggles with social media?
Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing! They helped my with my Facebook scheduling to save time, showed me how to read analytics, taught me how to create beautiful Instagram captions with a "calls to action". I was struggling everywhere and they knew just how to teach me!
5. Since starting your social media journey, what has been the biggest change you’ve seen in your brand?
Definitely my branding. There has been growth, and I learned different ways to engage my readers, but branding has been the biggest change. From the 2-day journey with Social Studio Shop, I learned to say no to companies that didn't suit my styling and that I should create media that had a strong voice (and aesthetic) all the way across!
6. Any exciting news you want to share with our readers?
This year I have landed some of my biggest partnerships! The collaborations are long-term and are great fits with my personal preferences. It also helps that I have learned how to monetize my partnerships and that is helping a ton (it is hard to blog "just for the heck of it" when you work a 9-5 job!).
7. Where can our audience connect with you?
Here are all my social media channels! I hope that I can get to know you in the future and perhaps one day we can collaborate as creatives! Xo!
