Hi there! Tell us a bit about yourself and what it is that you do!
Allison Evelyn Gower here, reaching out to you with a virtual handshake. Business-wise, I am the President & CEO of Allison Evelyn, Inc., offering content creation and media relations services to a wide variety of both local and global businesses. At the core of it all, and me as a person, I’m a writer. When not at my coworking space in San Diego or out meeting with stupendous business owners, you can find me practicing yoga, hopping on a plane somewhere (preferably with nothing but one carry on bag) or talking about flying squirrels.
How do you think your best friends would describe you?
Outgoing. Positive. Ambitious. Pun Obsessed. Dancing whenever possible.
So you’re a past Social Studio Shop Socialite. Can you tell our audience a little bit about what products or services you’ve participated in with what and us your experience was with those?
I took a thrilling leap enrolling in the Social Studio Shop workshop in Los Angeles in 2015. Jessica connected me with other lasses who were also driving up from San Diego / looking for hotels, which made the process much more easy and fun. The conference was planned out beautifully from start to finish, from the decor to the food served. Truly though, I am still dreaming of the food.
We were walked through the ins and outs of all critical things related to social media, being taught with real examples and getting educated on with our own accounts. Plus, we got to connect with fellow #ladyboss business owners going through similar challenges and processes.
Before getting together with Social Studio Shop, what were your biggest struggles with social media?
Before, I was not aware of how as many posts were seen or why a company’s own active engagement was so important. After taking part in the Social Studio Shop experience, I became much more aware of the data and algorithm aspect of social media. Why is one post seen above another. What are the factors you should be tracking with posts.
Since starting your social media journey, what has been the biggest change you’ve seen in your brand?
I’ve discovered the essential basics on how to make more engaging content, learning strategies that better invite people to react and want to respond. Yes, it’s great to share photo of a perfectly crafted white cupcake with buttercream frosting, but there are strategic ways to share it AND engage your desired audience in conversation about it.
Any exciting news you want to share with our readers?
Exciting tidbit time. Since engaging in Social Studio Shop services, I have gained new clients via the platform, businesses that reached out saying they wanted to work with me based on my Instagram. That was an element I honestly wasn’t unexpected. And, for you business nerds, I am wicked excited about systems I’ve put in place this year to make my business more efficient. Accounting. Invoicing. Training on in-house tasks. It’s seriously exciting for a more focused, efficient 2017!
