A couple weeks ago I sat down (virtually of course) with the lovely Joanna Waterfall, founder of Yellow Conference to talk about her journey with creatives. Having first been "introduced" to Joanna, by Avery, I knew I had to sit down with this ray of sunshine (meet her in real life) and learn how she came up with the concept of Yellow.
After experiencing several graphic design conferences and get-togethers, Joanna knew there was something missing. She longed for a space where creative women could connect and take the skills that they possessed to work together and build something bigger, something greater then themselves. The idea for Yellow Conference was born.
The first conference was hosted in LA last year and hosted several notable entrepreneurs and speakers. Women left inspired, empowered, and ready to hit the ground running! Founded Magazine was one of the many projects, companies, movements that has blossomed since the conference and I can't wait to attend this year!
Since the two day conference, Yellow has grown a strong community on social media by sharing about their projects. Their audience has grown from curious entrepreneurs to full-fledged advocates who are all proud to share their message, "spread goodness & bloom".
Yellow has also worked hard to build a local community for LA creatives to meet in an intimate setting at their monthly gatherings to share stories, connect, and sip cocktails. These meet-ups happen all over LA from chic rooftops to hip neighborhoods. Their next venture aims to bring the Yellow spirit and support to an online space.
As of last week, Yellow has launched a Kickstarter campaign to back their new project. Joanna hopes to reach their goal and be able to create a platform for creatives to connect, support, and hold each other accountable to their dreams. The new site will offer resources, tools, and confidence to help entrepreneurs combine their skills with business know-how. They hope to allow for a space in which like-minds can connect globally and build their ever-growing community to create positive impact.
