We'd love to hear more about Sable & Snow. What does your company specialize in?
Sable & Snow is an independent stationery and paper goods company specializing in wedding invitations, custom design work, greeting cards and art prints. We are based in sunny San Diego and have a passion for illustration, typography, and all things paper. All of our products are designed, printed and produced in California using high quality, environmentally friendly materials.
How did the three of you meet? Do you ever find it challenging to have three co-owners?
The three ladies of Sable & Snow met while studying graphic design in college. We bonded over our shared love of illustration, beautiful typography and paper goods. After graduating college we went on to other pursuits, but soon discovered we missed collaborating and doing the kind of work we loved. We decided to start Sable & Snow as a way to pursue our passion and do the kind of work that excites us! While it can always be a challenge working closely with others, at the end of the day we find that the benefits of having three teammates far outweigh the negatives. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with women that are not only partners in business, but close friends.
Where do you find inspiration for your products?
We're often inspired by nature and love getting outside to explore colors, shapes and organic textures. All three of us love traveling and have drawn inspiration from textiles, architecture, and museum visits. Most of all we find inspiration by constantly exploring new things.
We had the pleasure of meeting you two at Creatives Connection SD. Do you go to networking events often? If so, why?
We love Creative Connection and have met some absolutely awesome ladies there. We attend networking events from time to time in addition to other local events like art openings and craft shows. Connecting with our local community has helped us learn and grow from so many of the talented small business entrepreneurs San Diego has.
How do you get the word out about your company?
We attend craft shows where we both sell our products and market our other custom design and wedding services. We collaborate with other small businesses on creative projects, giving us the opportunity to meet new people and share our work. We're also active on social media to reach new audiences, stay in touch with our favorite customers, build our brand presence and enjoy the community that we are part of!
What's your favorite social media network and why?
Definitely Instagram! Our business is extremely visual, so we love this aspect of Instagram. It allows us to share our work and projects, and sometimes give viewers a behind-the-scenes look into our process and our everyday lives. We also love staying connected with other creatives and small businesses.
If you could give other entrepreneurs one tip of advice, what would it be?
Make positive thinking part of your everyday work ethic. There will always be good and bad days, highs and lows, but at the end of the day you should enjoy what you're doing and keeping a positive attitude will help you get there.
What exciting things does Sable & Snow have in store for us in 2015?
2015 is going to be an awesome year! We are expanding our wedding line with new custom options like luxe paper and foil printing. We are also growing the custom design part of our business—offering illustration, branding and other graphic design services. We are looking forward to meeting and working with some amazing new people in 2015 and can't wait to see what the year will bring!
