If you’ve been floating around the social media world for some time now, you’ve probably heard the term “brand” or “branding” more than once. And if you’re a blogger or an entrepreneur, you’ve probably heard even more how important it is to have a well-established and recognizable brand. Ok, cool, but why? Tons of people are talking about how important it is, but it has a lot of our audience and clients asking “why?”. The thing about branding is, it’s everywhere. Everything and everyone has a brand. Our goal here is to make sure that brand is cohesive and united. While blogging, social media strategy and marketing are all huge parts of your growth, none of it would even be possible if you don’t have a strong, established brand.
While there are a million different reasons and benefits to having a united brand, I’m going to share with you 4 of the biggest ones that will show you what an amazing impact a cohesive brand can have on your blog or business.
Establishes Trust + Recognition
You guys, I hope you know by now that establishing trust with your audience is key to your growth and success. If your audience doesn’t trust you, they’ll never remain loyal to you! In case you need a quick refresher, “a brand is a relationship between an organization and an audience” - Jeremiah Gardner. It’s what people say, think and feel about your blog or business. No, you can’t control it, but you can certainly influence their perception! By creating a consistent experience for your audience, people will learn to recognize you and your brand across all platforms - from your social media, blog content, targeted ads, etc. While there are many ways to build trust among potential clients and your audience, a cohesive brand is by far one of the most effective.
People recognize when a blogger or business has put thought and intention into every little nook and cranny of their brand. Let’s face it - people care about looks. Having a goal, a target audience, a plan of action and consistency all make you look better and establish your credibility. Your brand should speak for itself and should be a representation of your knowledge, ability and your skill set. It shows you pay attention to detail and take your business or blog seriously, which people will respect and trust.
And a little secret for all you newbies out there - if you’re just starting out, a well-thought out brand can make it look like you’ve been doing this for years.
I’m not going to lie, this is probably my favorite reason for cultivating a cohesive brand. Simply put, it makes your life easier. It’s basically like having an outline or a guidebook to creating your content, social media posts, etc. Once you’ve got your brand locked in, it cuts the planning process in half. You don’t need to worry about if your content is appealing to your audience or if it is aligning with your goals. A streamlined, cohesive brand saves you time that can be better spent on growing your business or focusing on your blog.
Targets Your Niche
When you have a cohesive brand, it helps detract from what we at Social Studio Shop like to call “shiny object syndrome”. One of the most important characteristics of a successful brand is the ability to narrow down exactly who your ideal audience is what you have to offer them. Once you have your target market and understand who your audience is, it will be that much easier to streamline your content, products or services to successfully reach them. The fact of the matter is you can’t appeal to everyone, and understanding your brand and your target niche will help you reach those that are going to be the most receptive to what you have to say.
